BEFORE you repair your Sebo power cable please take a few minutes to watch my video below. I have also written out brief steps for you to follow.
In the video I replace the old cable with a new cable but in the written notes I shorten the existing cable. It is your choice which way you do this but to save money I would always prefer to keep the old cable if it is in otherwise good condition.
UNPLUG THE VACUUM BEFORE DOING ANY KIND OF CHECKS OR REPAIRS.
1. Most commonly, Sebo power cables break internally where they enter the handle. It's vital to repair this as soon as possible. If the insulation is damaged, too, it can be hazardous to continue using the vacuum
2. Cut a few inches off your cable. We are getting rid of the part with the connection issue.
3. TILT THE HANDLE UPSIDE DOWN and remove the screw, Keep the handle in this tilted position the entire time otherwise you will lose the nut that sits inside, SEE VIDEO FOR MORE INFO.
4. Slide the plastic part up just enough to unclip the part as shown.
5. Pop the screw back in to keep the nut behind it in position.
6. Undo cable grip
7. Undo wires from terminals
8. Strip the wires on the cable to match the length of the ones on the cable that we are discarding.
9. Connect up to the terminals
10. Replace the grip ensuring that it is firmly screwed down in a way that traps the black insulation beneath it.
11. With the handle still tilted, clip the plastic parts back in, remove the screw and slide down into position.
12. Replace the screw
13. Repair complete. You now have a good power supply for happy vacuuming, yet you have only lost a few inches of cable length.
